Save and share: project files versus audio exports
Check cloud-save requirements, verify completion, and test a shared link in a separate browser context.
A project save preserves tracks and editing state. An audio export captures the current performance as an audio file. A mixed WAV cannot restore the separate editable tracks.
Before cloud saving
LA Studio requires an account for cloud saves. Free accounts have limits such as project count; check the remaining slots in the interface. Saving uploads project data and associated audio. This is separate from local audio processing.
Verify the save
- Give the project a recognizable name and use SAVE.
- Wait for completion rather than closing the tab during transfer.
- After important edits, keep the original tab open and open the saved project in another tab. Check that audio and edits restore.
- Export a listening copy and keep it separately from the cloud project.
Test sharing as a recipient
Check the sharing scope, then open the link while logged out or in a private window. Your own authenticated playback does not prove another person can access it. Include only material you may share.
Keep independent backups
Clearing browser site data can remove local state and model caches. Do not rely on browser storage as the sole backup. Keep original recordings and exports locally, and record the names and usage conditions of required instruments or plugins.
Check the saved state and restore it
Use Save in the DAW toolbar. Signed-out users see the free-account prompt. The first save creates a project from the current tracks and regions; subsequent saves update the current project.
- Place a short recording on one track and note its name, duration, and start position. Click Save and wait for Saving… to change to Saved.
- Free accounts have five project slots with a usage indicator. The new-project limit is distinct from updating an existing project. Keep the tab open if saving reports an error.
- Keep the original tab open. Sign into the same account in another tab and open the saved project from the library. Compare track count, waveforms, start positions, and playback.
- Export a WAV and store it alongside the original recordings. A WAV is not a replacement for an editable cloud project.
